Eve was born to Trevor Eve (actor) and Sharon Maughan, a writer. Jack and George are her brothers younger, were born in London, and were raised between London, the United Kingdom and Los Angeles. She studied at Bedales School, and took A-Levels in the London's Westminster School. She took English in St Catherine's College Oxford during the gap year. While at Oxford she was a student in the productions like An Ideal Husband Animal Crackers (which was a tour to Edinburgh for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival) Scenes from an Execution and The Colour of Justice. Her early 2006 was spent in India as she worked on a mini-series of drama called Losing Gemma. The series centers around backpackers. She is from a multicultural family. Her parents were Indo British of British heritage Anthony Mitra & an Irish born mother Nora Downey. English actor Guyan Mitra has an older as well as a younger sibling. Jason Mitra was her father. The younger sister of Mitra is a famous travel journalist as well, and her writing is featured on Lonely Planet.
