Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on November 12, 1961, in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast, and holds the record for being recognized with 10/10 scores at an Olympic competition. Bela Karolyi later Romanian Gymnastics Coach, came across Comaneci as she was only seven years old. She first competed at the championships for juniors from Romania in 1969 she placed 13th. And in 1970, won. Her first competition in the international arena was in 1972 at a pre-Olympic Junior competition for communist-bloc nations she was awarded three gold medals. In 1973 and 1974, she was an overall junior champion. In her debut as a Senior in the year 1975, she defeated Russian Lyudmila Turkishcheva, the five-time European champ winning four golds and one argent. The year was 1976 when she was the winner of the American Cup at the New York City Olympics. She also was the first female ever to remove the parallel bars with the double backward salto. When she was a child she started her career as an ice skater with Nina Wayne in the travelling entertainment show Ice Capades. Ice Capades was a show that featured skaters ice skating by actors.
